De Minimis

A photo of our fluffy girl cat, October. She is white with tabby markings, and very green eyes. She is standing on a light brown cat tree, and giving stink eye to the camera. So, the current law in regards to selling to the US means that anything under $800 doesn’t require paying tariffs on; this is called the ‘de minimis’. While the White House hasn’t out and out said that this, the de minimis, will be going away with all the new global tariffs, but the small print seems to suggest that it will once shippers/USPS have systems in place. I’m still hoping they’ll leave it be, because yeah… nothing makes people want to buy stuff from abroad like having to pay an extra 10% on it to actually get it delivered. ¬¬

Past that, trying to think other shop thoughts. I figured I’d try to get my self in gear yesterday and do some product photography… that didn’t happen. First, my lightbox’s lil power plug had worked itself free again. A fairly easy fix, but still annoying. And then the plastic casing for my ring light snapped, and even with judicious use of Gorilla™ tape, it wasn’t up to supporting the weight of my camera. I’ve got a new light coming in later, and I could probably manage some photos without, cats permitting.

(which is to say, every time I think about it, one or more cats parks themselves in my space. I can’t blame them — it’s sunny to their preferences)

But yeah, I’ve made some rings, and then I redid them all because I didn’t like how I did them the first time. So those need photographing. I’ve also made bracelets again, and I need to decide what I want to list where. I figure I could put some of the semi-precious ones on Etsy, but do I put the ‘fun’ ones online again somewhere? Those are currently earmarked at a ratherlow price, which… I need to think about adjusting my prices to account for the third change in postage for a year, maybe. And with all the bracelets, adjusting my price up from my fayre prices, which are lower for some items (as I don’t need to account for postage within the price/part of the postage in the price).

Anyways, fun fun. I think I’ll take a lil dose of pain meds like I did yesterday, and see if that helps ease me into all that fiddly photography.
