The current war in the Middle East is nothing if not surreal. Like, this is the thing that I was told my entire life should be prevented at all costs, and yet. Here we are. Will this start World War III, or will it end up being a damp squib of a war that Trump will claim to have ended? I’ve not really had the spoons to keep the vaguest eye on it.
Of course, that’s in part because my eyes are closer to home. This year has been really upsetting in seeing how the TERFs are controlling the narrative on trans issues. While neither of my children are trans, they *are* both non-binary, and the current fallout from the Supreme Court ruling makes them invisible (and of course, denies the existence of intersex folx completely). It’s even invaded the news; the BBC regularly identifies transwomen as ‘biological males’, which, gross. But like I told my MP when I talked to him a few months ago — the ruling affects cis women too. Because the point with the TERFs was never about safety of women — it was about them deciding who was femming properly (which of course, means only white femmes ¬¬). The ruling and the EHRC guidance are both against standing law, and the government is full of TERFs and too shit-scared to actually admit that they make law, and not the court. And in the interim, so many kids are suffering because of lies and bullshit. *shakes head*
Our declutterer was here today; I had completely forgotten we had her. She laughed, because she normally drops an email reminder, but didn’t this time because we’d exchanged emails recently. Spouse woke me up in time to get some breakfast crammed in my face, so all good. We ended up doing a half session this time because a couple other things came up, but at least our kitchen is mainly swung around again. We also talked about things spouse can do to make his area easier to live in, which basically amounts to a new, bigger desk, and some specific storage. I gently chided him that my area stays mainly tidied for that reason; I insisted on getting storage in when we moved in, and I’ve added a few more bits over the years. So yeah, even if we didn’t do the entire four hours, I think we both came out of it feeling that progress had been made.
Right. Back to gaming, and seeing if I can get myself to finish this poor languishing sock on my desk. xD
